The Youth Workshop is limited to 15 participants, and the Adult Workshop is limited to 30 participants. Both are open to all acoustic instruments and voices. No experience is needed, but you must bring your own instrument (or plan to sing!). Participants will learn more about traditional music from Norway and new compositions for the hardanger fiddles. Everyone will try playing a traditional Norwegian tune and learn some dance steps.
The Concert will feature Dan Trueman and the Bergamot Quartet: one of the only Hardanger Fiddle Quartets in the world! Dan Trueman is a musician: a fiddler, a collaborator, a teacher, a developer of new instruments, a composer of music for ensembles of all shapes and sizes. Dan’s work has been recognized by fellowships, grants, commissions, and awards from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Barlow Endowment, the Bessies, the Fulbright Commission, the American Composers Forum, the MacArthur Foundation, the American Council of Learned Societies, Meet the Composer, among others. He is Professor and Chair, Department of Music at Princeton University. Bergamot Quartet is fueled by a passion for exploring and advocating for the music of living composers with creative programming, community-oriented audience building, and frequent commissioning. The quartet is in high demand as interpreters and co-creators of new music, having premiered hundreds of works by students of all ages and developed numerous significant new pieces with composers at the forefront of contemporary concert music. They maintain a full season each year of concerts ranging from DIY events to appearances at major venues.
Blank Page Cafe will be offering a farm fresh cookout from 5-7 PM featuring Bread and Butter Farm’s 100% grass-fed beef burgers or VT Black Bean Burgers fresh off the grill. A burger plate comes with a side salad, GF chocolate chip cookie, and iced tea. Dinner can be purchased on-site, a la carte. A burger plate is $20+ tax.
